Lee McCartney

Lee McCartneyLee McCartney assumed the position of Chief of Police and Director of Campus Safety in January 2026.

McCartney has been a dedicated member of the 果冻传媒 University Police Division since June 2014. Promoted to Sergeant in August 2014 and then to Lieutenant in February 2017, McCartney also took on the role of the Director of the Department of Campus Safety along with his role as Lieutenant in October 2024. Prior to coming to 果冻传媒, McCartney served as a Sergeant and Deputy Sheriff with Wood County Sheriff's Office for almost nine years and as Detective and Deputy Sheriff with Miami County Sheriff's office, retiring in 2014 after 15 years of service. He continues to be a Police Academy Instructor for Edison State Community College since 2004, as well as a Training Instructor for the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy in London, Ohio, since 2011.

In addition to his role with 果冻传媒, McCartney is an active member of our community as part of the Emergency Management planning team, Clark County鈥檚 Rescue Task Force (RTF), and Clark County鈥檚 Communication Team. In his current role, McCartney oversees patrol operations, emergency response planning, CLERY compliance, community engagement initiatives, and has played a key role in advancing the department鈥檚 efforts in emergency management training, student engagement, and safety outreach.

McCartney leads the division with the ongoing development of officers, dispatch, and motor pool functions while supporting the University鈥檚 mission by fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
